Effect of Organic Acids in Piglet Feed

Organic foods such as citric acid, fumaric acid, and inorganic acids such as phosphates are often used in pig feeds. The addition of appropriate acidifiers to feeds facilitates the digestion of feeds by pigs.
Due to the imperfect function of the digestive tract of the pig's gastrointestinal tract, after the early weaning of the pigs, part of the feed will not be digested when the pigs are fed. This will cause a burden on the digestive system of the pigs, which will lead to diarrhea and affect the growth of the pigs. . If an appropriate amount of organic acid is added to the pig material, healthy growth of the piglet can be promoted and the survival rate of the piglet can be increased.
Gastric acid is an acidic secretion secreted by the cells of the gastric fundal glands of the livestock. It has the effect of activating pepsinogen, promoting the secretion of pancreatic juice, bile, and gallbladder, promoting the digestion and absorption of nutrients, and inhibiting the growth of harmful microorganisms.
It was determined that the pigs had insufficient gastric acid secretion at the age of 8 weeks. The pH in the stomach was about 3.1 at the 20th day of age, and the pH was about 4.0 at the 30th day and was weakly acidic. The pH value of adult pig stomach juice is 1.1-1.8, and its acidity is strong. Only when the gastric juice pH test showed that 2% citric acid was added to the pig diet, the weight gain in the test group was 15% higher than in the control group, and the feed utilization efficiency was increased by 9%; 2% lactic acid was added to the piglet diet. The group gained 11% more than the control group. Addition of 1% to 2% of organic acid in the sub-pig feed below 30 kg is most suitable, and its effect is obvious.
