The "China Cardiovascular Disease Report 2015" published in May 2016 shows that the incidence of sudden cardiac death in China is 41.8 per 100,000 people. The number of sudden cardiac deaths in China exceeds 540,000 per year, which is equivalent to about 1,500 people per day due to sudden cardiac death. Passed away.

Zhang Wei stressed that in addition to strengthening public emergency measures to promote the prevention of sudden cardiac death, the most effective way to prevent sudden cardiac death in high-risk patients is to implant ICD. ICD has the functions of supportive pacing and anti-tachycardia pacing, low-energy cardiac conversion and high-energy defibrillation. It can recognize rapid ventricular arrhythmia and auto-discharge defibrillation within a few seconds, which can significantly reduce malignant ventricular tachycardia. The incidence of sudden death from arrhythmia saves patients' lives.

At the kick-off meeting, Medtronic donated the first 30 ICDs for poor patients in the country who needed ICD treatment.
