The Ministry of Health recently announced the National Food Safety Standard "Standard for the Use of Food Nutrition Enhancers (Draft for Soliciting Opinions)" to revise and supplement the previous relevant standards.
The current national standard "Hygienic Standard for the Use of Food Nutrition Enhancers" (GB14880-1994) was approved by the Ministry of Health on February 22, 1994 and implemented on September 1, 1994.
The preparation of the draft comment notes that with the development of the food industry, in the course of the implementation of the standards in recent years, some problems have been gradually exposed. For example, there is no clear principle of food nutrition enhancement, and there is no unified carrier for food fortification. Classification systems, some provisions of nutritional supplements used in infant foods and infant foods are inconsistent with the current series of infant and infant product standards, etc., need to refer to the latest progress of domestic and foreign food nutrition strengthening policies and regulations and standards combined with the actual situation of China's food nutrition enhancement Make updates and improvements.
The Center for Nutrition and Food Safety of the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention undertook the revision of relevant standards. Compared with the "Food Hygiene Enhancer Use Hygiene Standards", the main amendments to the Exposure Draft include: Removed Appendix A of the original standard "Implementation Rules for the Hygiene Standards for the Use of Food Nutrition Enhancers"; Added Terms and Definitions; Added Nutrition Strengthen the principles, principles for the use of nutritional enhancers, and strengthen the selection principles for carriers; based on risk assessment, combined with food classification systems, adjust and integrate the use of some types of nutritional enhancers, the scope of use and the amount of use, and delete some Appropriate fortified product categories; List of approved sources of nutritional fortifier compounds; List of sources of nutritional fortifier compounds that can be used for special dietary foods and the use of some nutrients; Added food classification system.
