Ultrasonic treatment of rice yield increase

The treatment of rice seeds with ultrasound-tuned techniques can increase rice yield by nearly 15 percent. This is the result of an on-site test comparing the first field test of this technology in Jiaoling County, Meizhou City, Guangdong Province.

It is understood that in June last year, the experimental team of the project carried out farmland promotion tests in Meizhou, Yangjiang and Qingyuan, and planted 50 mu of ultrasonic-treated seeds and 50 mu of unprocessed rice in Hejiao Village, Jiaocheng Town, Jiaoling County, Meizhou. The seeds were tested.

“The number of seeds, the amount of chemical fertilizers, and the number of irrigations used for rice sowing per acre are the same as those for conventional rice cultivation.” Professor Tang Xiangru, director of the Department of Crop Science and Technology at the Agricultural College of South China Agricultural University, said that the core of this technology is to be adopted before planting. Ultrasonic treatment of rice seeds is essentially the use of its mechanical, thermal and cavitation effects to promote the biochemical reactions within the seed.

Seeds that were sown after ultrasonic treatment showed an increase in effective panicles, an increase in the number of whole grains per panicle, an increase in the seed setting rate of panicles, 25-26 cm per panicle, 280-350 paddy grains, and a plant height of 1.25 m; Untreated rice is about 21 centimeters per panicle, 180-250 grains of rice, and about 1.1 meters high. The “ultrasound-enhanced rice seed yield enhancement and optimization technology” yielded an increase of 62.2 kg/mu compared to conventional cultivation techniques, with an increase in yield of 14.1%.
