South Korea's "East Asia Science and Technology" released news that the research team of Ulsan Institute of Science and Technology, through the heating of solid organic matter, triggered an explosion reaction, and produced a three-dimensional porous organic structure within 0.1 seconds. The research was published online in the November 27 issue of Nature News.
In the process of synthesizing three-dimensional carbon materials, the research team accidentally found that when the solid organic crystals were heated, the temperature suddenly rises rapidly between 100-150 degrees, and leads to a violent chemical reaction, forming a three-dimensional porous substance in 0.1 seconds. The team thus discovered the principle of the formation of porous crystals.
The research team pointed out that the chemical reaction in the solid state does not require subsequent treatment, is very environmentally friendly, and can obtain high-purity reaction crystals. This method has many advantages compared with chemical reactions in gas and liquid states.
