The incidence of lung cancer in Beijing increased by 56% in 10 years

The Beijing Municipal Bureau of Health released news that the monitoring data of the Beijing Cancer Prevention Research Office showed that lung cancer ranked the first in the incidence of male malignant tumors in Beijing's household registration population in 2010, ranking second among women, second only to breast cancer. From 2001 to 2010, the incidence of lung cancer in Beijing increased by 56%. One in five new cancer patients in the city are lung cancer patients. In 2010, the mortality rate of lung cancer among households living in Beijing reached 48.9 per 100,000, and it also ranked the "first in all cancers." Not only that, the incidence of lung cancer in people over the age of 35 has been accelerating; and the incidence of males is higher than that of females. The ratio of male to female patients in Beijing is 172 to 100.

Every year in November is the "Global Lung Cancer Concern Month." It is understood that since 1985, lung cancer has become the world's highest incidence and mortality of malignant tumors. The person in charge of the Beijing Municipal Health Bureau stated that the first risk factor affecting the incidence of lung cancer is smoking. More than 90% of lung cancer is thought to be caused by active smoking or passive smoking of “second-handed” smoke, living with smokers, and smoking secondhand smoke. The risk of lung cancer in the population increased by 20% to 30%. In addition, environmental pollution, such as: air pollution, indoor air pollution, cooking fumes, etc. are also factors that induce lung cancer. In addition, some patients with chronic pulmonary diseases, such as: chronic bronchitis, tuberculosis, diffuse interstitial fibrosis and other groups of people with lung cancer incidence is also higher than other groups.

The official said that people should take appropriate precautionary measures against the high risk factors of lung cancer. The first is to quit smoking. Every citizen should be told "Prevention of lung cancer, smoking cessation is the most important". Smoking and exposure to smoke can cause health hazards. Second, it is to control air pollution, and to minimize the production of cooking fumes, reducing the cooking of frying and frying foods. Third, indoor ventilation should be frequent to improve indoor air quality.
